Cathy's Garden Fresh Cooking Blog

March 25th and we got about 4 inches of snow! Is winter ever going end this year? Last year we were spoiled with no winter, it was in the 80’s this time last year, which was too hot. Our average temperature this time of year in Central Ohio is in the 50’s. This time of year we should be out in our garden planting our cool crops such as, greens, peas and radishes. Check out my garden below.

March 2013 garden

Don’t let the cold weather discourage you, there are signs of spring. My snowdrops have been in bloom for months and the lenton rose are in full bloom too. The crocus’s are big buds waiting for the sun to open them up and soak in the sunshine. The tulips and daffodils are up and some are starting to bud. The grass is starting to green up and the birds are all a twitter patted.

2013 seed starts

I have my seeds started, my peppers are up as well as some of the tomatoes. I just started tomatillo, juliette tomatoes and basil seeds the other day. If you are going to start anything from seed now is the time to do it. I think soon, boom, summer will be here and I’ll be ready.
